Hiroshima, Japan-Mazda Motor Corporation will hold a global premiere of the new Mazda5 (known as Mazda Premacy in Japan) during the press day of the 2010 Geneva Motor Show on 2 and 3, 2010. Embracing dynamic and elegant design Nagare, The new Mazda5 emits about 15 percent less CO2 than the current model thanks to Mazda's' i-stop "idling stop system, a direct injection gasoline engines and other technologies. European sales of the new Mazda5 will begin in autumn 2010.

New Mazda5 features an emotional design that combines elegance with a dynamic spirit. This will be the first production model to fully adopt Mazda Mazda Nagare (meaning "flow" in Japanese) design language, which found inspiration in the beauty found in natural flows. Nagare design have appeared in certain elements of the new production models and previously on display through a series of concept cars. New Mazda5 aerodynamic design achieved excellent characteristics with a drag coefficient and lift incredible balance. In order to meet the diverse needs of customers, also offers a high-level functionality, with dual sliding rear doors and a few chairs settings. This includes karakuri second row center seat that can be converted into a versatile storage space. With a sportier ride and smooth, the new Mazda5 respond appropriately to the driver's commands, allowing the whole family to travel in comfort and safety.

Mazda 6 Tops in The Latest Bumper Tests

DETROIT (AP) Of the six most-popular midsize sedans, none gets a top rating in bumper safety crash tests.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety says the Mazda 6 was the only car to receive an "acceptable" rating. That's one rating below "good," the top rating.The IIHS estimates the average cost for bumper repairs on the Mazda 6 at $871. That's an improvement from the 2007 model, which received a "marginal" rating. Ratings for the Honda Accord and Hyundai Sonata improved one notch to "marginal" from "poor."

The 2009 Ford Fusion's bumper rating slipped to "poor" from "marginal" in 2007.GM's Chevrolet Malibu also received a "poor" ranking, with average report costs hitting $2,329.
The results are based on the average cost to repair front, rear and corner bumpers following a 6 mph crash.

This is the Mazda MX-5 Superlight show car – an MX-5 speedster with weight stripped out and windscreen relegated to the scrapheap. Think of it as the purest MX-5 yet.

Sadly, it's just a concept car at present, destined to be shown at the Frankfurt motor show in autumn 2009. Designed in Oberusel, Germany, it is Mazda’s present to itself for creating (over to you, Mazda PR machine) 'the best-selling two-seat sports car in the world'.Of course, this isn’t any old milestone; the MX-5 has been around for 20 years exactly – worming its way into our hearts since its debut in 1989. To some it is single handedly responsible for reviving the small sports car market that many thought had died with the British motor industry.
On first glance, you’ll notice the lack of windscreen and door handles in this MX-5 speedster. What you won’t notice is the lightweight technology that allegedly improves driving performance, handling, fuel economy and CO2 emissions.

No technical details have been released yet, meaning we at CAR can only guess it will be conventionally powered by either of the MX-5’s current line of 1.8 or 2.0-litre petrol engines.'It's like the Smart Crossblade – it has no windscreen!' I hear you scream. Quite. A robust flies-in-the-teeth experience is guaranteed with the lack of glass and A-pillars.The chances of the MX-5 Superlight being put into production are, we think, remote. But then you never can tell with companies like Mazda.
